Psssshhh. This movie was hilarious. It had me doubled over laughing a couple times. Even my mom liked it and she hates movies that are not historical dramas.

I rewatched the trailer and started cracking up again.

Was it a superhero/scifi/fantasy movie? Because those are usually the only movies that gain a sizable fandom and plenty of artwork.

I mean, it is basically a comedic James Bond. And James Bond movies seem to have a good fandom with the new Daniel Craig and that skinny white kid that plays Q.

This! Comedies rarely develope large fandom communities. And maybe Peter Serafinowicz character was off-putting to some? Other than that I got nothing I felt he was the only problematic part to this movie.

Where's the logic or proof that this movie doesn't have a fandom because there's (apparently) no men to slash? Or that the people who want more female representation are 100% the same group of people who also are in slash fandoms and/or are ignoring this movie? Tumblr/Twitter/Fandom is a huge place, after all.

Quite a lot of reaching here just to whine about something you like not having a fandom.

I wanted to see this in theaters, but I never got around to it. I can't even remember the last movie I saw in theaters...I don't go often.

Though I did fear that the main characters weight or appearance would get mocked, so I admit there was some trepidation about that.

Is it on Netflix? I'll check it out if/when it gets uploaded.

I watched it a couple weeks ago. Her appearance is sort of mocked but not in a "you are ugly way". And I don't think her weight is mentioned at all.

I'd say because it's a silly comedy. I personally just don't watch them, and I know other are like me. I'm pretty sure I'd like the characters more in another genre. Come to think of it I've never seenn huge fanfic followings of comedies. Though maybe I look in the wrong places.

Hmmm, where all did you look? For a type of movie that doesn't typically attract a big fandom (such as: most self-contained films ever made) the ~30 fics so far on AO3 is a good or at least typical turnout, and most of them are het involving the main character.

The chubby chasers are all in the Steven Universe fandom. They aren't nice people, though.
