I remember one from waaay back. Weiß Kreuz was one of my first fandoms and Ken had different eye colours depending on adaption/artwork but it was always either blue or green. Never brown. But he constantly got ~chocolate brown orbs~ or something in fanfic. It was very annoying! (Fanon also had him as a massively clumsy idiot all the time and ... yeah, a character can only be so clumsy if he used to be a successful professional football goalie. Yes, I'm still bitter about all sorts of terrible Ken fanons after all these years.)

Oh yeah, I remember that. WK had a lot of conflicting artwork/anime out there. Part of its charm.

I think a lot of the clumsiness came about because he wasn't the best developed character otherwise and fandom had to give him SOMETHING to do. Which was apparently pratfalls.

Heh... there probably wasn't a single character on that show that I would consider "well developed" but the trashy-ness of it all was also part of it's charm, I guess. But you're right in the original series, he was generally not the brightest crayon in the box and he was an athlete, so people probably extended those traits to a general "dumb klutzy jock" thing.

(Although Ken got... interesting in Glühen. Yay, killing sprees are fun!)

Well, the rest of WK at least had love interests and angsty pasts to appeal to 15 year old girls. Ken's love interest took off and was never mentioned again. And somebody spiked his gatorade. Sucky, but not quite angsty enough. 15 year old me demanded messed up families, kidnappings, and murder dagnabit!

Lol, that series was so bad. I wanna watch it again now. Including the mess that was Gluhen.

Well, his best friend tried to murder him in addition to spiking his gatorade, so that wasn't very nice either.

Oh God. Don't do it. I tried to watch it again a year ago, for nostalgia's sake and it's even worse than I remembered. It's also surprisingly hard to find the episodes. Glühen is easier to find and a bit more watchable (if still cringey).

IIRC, Gluhen had better animation and the plot was not holier than Swiss cheese. Or at least, it was less holey than the original anime.

I think they have the dvds on netflix...or I might pitch it to Noodles to show a few episodes for the shit stream. Misery does love company.

Back in the day, I actually owned the DVDs and damn were those subtitles terrible (my country managed to create subtitles that were unreadable AND had an early google-translate vibe. And they were still pretty expensive...)

If it got picked up for the shitstream, I might actually try to be awake for it to join haha!

Whenever I get nostalgia I break out my boxset and watch the dub outtakes. Gives me a good fifteen minutes of hysterical laughter.

Did you ever read any of Laila's Ken-centric fics on FFN? (I think she goes by Sevendials now.) I wondered because she used to be nettled by some of the same terrible Ken fanon you dislike.

I just looked them up - she wrote a lot of Ken/Yohji which wasn't my pairing, bit I am very sure I read her gen stories and I liked them quite a lot!
