I don't think it happens as much as it used to, but every Pokemon fan used to call James's hair blue. I think he was one of the first characters to be described with the infamous "bluenette" epithet. Except, his hair is clearly purple.

Hmm, I had to look at a couple of screen shots. I think in comparison to Jesse's hair, his hair looks really blue. In some screenshots I can see it's at least a shade of blue. But others it's obviously a lot more purple. Idk, still, it's a purple-blue color.

Well, now his hair is purple. It was more of a blue color before the art style change. And Jessie's used to be red, now it's magenta.
