Re: Factual mistakes made often in fandom

There are surprisingly few in my fandom, mostly because there is so much room for interpretation and filling in the blanks. Not all of the characters even have physical descriptions in the books. For example, we know Sauron was attractive but we don't know what hair or eye color. The assumption tends to be mostly red or blonde hair and flamey eyes, but there is no real canon that says one way or another.

One thing, interestingly, is that everyone assumes Legolas is blonde in the books. But there is nothing that actually says that and one sentence that may mean he actually had dark hair. Thranduil is mentioned as blonde, but we don't really know about Legolas.

There are some Boromir characterizations that I think are verifiably untrue.
