I have a relative who is an IRL stereotypical Mary Sue. Super pretty, super talented, everyone loves her, etc.

She even has a Japanese name, despite not being ethnically or nationally Japanese. Her parents gave her the name because they thought it sounded cool.

I can assure you that people who appear to be 'IRL Mary Sues' have some sort of deep issues somewhere.

Perfectionist, hard on themselves, whatever.

I've closely known people who others might consider a Mary Sue from a distance (both of my sisters at some point).

AYRT

Oh, I know she isn't really a Mary Sue. No real person can be a true Mary Sue, because real people are complex whereas Mary Sues are one-dimensional pieces of cardboard. She just happens to outwardly display a LOT of traits commonly associated with badly-written OCs.

Ah allright.

My bad then.

Also..I had no idea that people give kids Japanese names 'because they sound cool'.

I can see some weeaboos doing that to their kids.

As a person of Japanese decent, I'm not sure if this is flattering or annoying.
