My particular pairings/fandom interests have always, for the most part, been older (over 35) characters. AND I always thought they were hot. And since these were not animated fandom either, there's only so much to make someone look younger, and they never really attempted to do so.

Perhaps look into different fandoms?

But really, while the luster of youth is beautiful, but there is also a beauty in growing older, and an attractiveness about certain people as well, that society (in many places) does not tend to value.

I hope as you do grow older, you're able to overcome that fear. I'm young. And I kind of get those feelings, from time to time, at least looking back on how fun I was. But yeah. Good luck OP. Know there are people out there that find older people attractive.
