I'm just looking forward to having my student loans paid off.

In a random anecdote: I was at a work happy hour about a year ago, with 3 other people my age (30s), and a flock of research assistants (20s). One of the RAs basically ended up at "the old people table" where we were talking about a recent change to the 401k policy, and then refinancing mortgages because interest rates had dropped significantly from when one person bought her condo. And the poor RA was just sitting there with this look of absolute horror, like "seriously, this is the future?" And extra sad, because we were the cool single senior researchers who didn't have to rush home to their babies.

Also, my mom was all about turning 50 so she could join AARP and get discounts.
