I must admit, when Jon Snow went down on Ygritte in GOT, that's pretty much exactly what I was thinking. Medieval cleanliness standards+hot winter clothing+sweating in combat=ew.

Though I'm guessing with stuff like Walking Dead they could still loot soap from supermarkets occasionally. That stuff lasts longer than canned food.

They'd also just bathed in the hot springs. Probably the cleanest they'd been in weeks.

Huh, in my memory they didn't bathe till after, but maybe I got it mixed up.

Except if you watch Walking Dead, they're always fucking grubby/bloody and wearing filthy clothes. I'm like - come on! Loot a damn K-mart and get a fresh shirt, *please*.

You know people still washed their junk in the middle ages right? They just didn't believe in submerging the whole body because it would cause sickness. If you don't wash your junk it gets sore. Ask someone who backpacks or someone who has been in the military and spent time in the field. They will tell you how painful it can be to not wash your genitals for an extended period of time. Also men weren't circumcised unless they were Jews so you get a build up of grossness near the head and that shit hurts if you don't keep it clean.
