Yes! I loved the books as the kid, so I could never like the movie. I'd love a faithful version.

I like the movies. But I just feel like there was so much left out or rearranged.

Also I feel like the movie oversimplified the whole 'science experiments" bit. In the books the scientists were actual nuanced characters. In the movies they're just 'evil humans being mean to animals because evil'. (The sequel took it to cartoonish degrees.But it was still kinda black and white in the original)
