Diet sodas, specifically Diet Coke. It tastes terrible to me, sticky sweet with a sour chemical aftertaste like licking a metal lamp post. I secretly think that if a person drinks diet coke regularly, their palate must not be terribly sensitive to flavors in general, or they've screwed it up with artificial sweeteners.

That's how I feel about regular sodas, particularly Coke. Sickly sweet with a nasty aftertaste and leaves a slimy feeling on my teeth. I love the taste of Diet Coke, though. Not Coke Zero or Diet Pepsi. Just Diet Coke. It is most of what I drink besides water.

I'm with you on the diet coke versus regular coke. But I've actually grown to prefer diet Pepsi, and if I've got a can, I don't hate diet big k.

I really hate diet Pepsi. When restaurants have only Pepsi products, I get something like lemonade or go with the lemon-lime soda. Those all taste the same to me, but I can tell the difference between Pepsi and Coke.

Coke and Pepsi definitely taste different.

I really can't stand artificial sweeteners. It doesn't seem to matter what kind. I recently bought some soda sweetened with stevia and I couldn't even finish the first can. The other five are still sitting in my fridge.

Same here. I can stand small amounts of... sorbitol? Malitol? But aspartame, splenda and all that just tastes horrible to me and it leaves an unpleasant taste in my mouth that won't go away for hours.

Those stevia-sweetened sodas gave me diarrhea once.

And to me, it's the sugared drinks that are "sticky." Diet drinks taste cleaner to me than regular ones.

Different strokes. Putting some kind of a value judgment on it is ridiculous.

I've been drinking zero-calorie cola for years. I can't drink regular OR diet anymore. Zero colas use artificial sweeteners, yes, but about half that as diet, which gives it, IMO, a better taste. Not too sweet, not too fake-sweet -- just right.

I avoid Pepsi products like the plague, as well -- WAAAY too sweet.

Ugh yesss. I hate the taste of artificial sweeteners. People can say "but it tastes the same" all they want, it simply doesn't. I don't drink regular soda too often, but if I do, it has to be the non-diet version.

IA. Obviously they taste the same to some people, but not to everyone. I can tell the difference between diet vs. regular without any trouble at all, and I rarely drink soda.

I hate diet soda except for Coke Zero, which I like because it just tastes like slightly less sweet Coke. All other diet sodas taste like evil to me.

I can't stand diet pop drinks, either. About the ONLY exception would be diet Dr. Pepper, 'cause it's probably the one that tastes the closest to the original, but even then, that's only if there's, like, no other pop anywhere and I happen to want some pop.

I remember going to friends' houses when I was younger and not only did they have diet pop, but they never put it in the fridge. Lukewarm diet Pepsi or Coke. Yum :/.

Then there's caffeine-free diet drinks, which is just...beyond pointless.
