Re: Fantasy is currently the least creative genre

Ehh, what does "creative" mean, though? Does it only pertain to world-building, in which sure, lots of fantasies use similar premade world-building tropes? But then, surely any normal modern day drama has basically no world-building at all, and that doesn't make it not creative. Personally, I like medieval Europe, and pretty elves, and dragons, and magic. I don't think using those elements inherently makes something "not creative". I am more interested in how the story develops its characters and plot, like any story, really. Creativity can come from the cracks, so to speak, it doesn't have to come from the setting.

Anon, we share a brain on this.

I like medieval European style with elves and dragons and magic. If that's an uncreative base, then the creative part is in the plot and characters and how exactly they personalize the setting.
