News.com.au doesn't believe in not posting pictures of dead people on the front page because who doesn't want to a close up of a shot dead man in the morning?

and too many articles of children and babies being stabbed/burned/kidnapped or beaten to link.

Ugh I hate when news articles post pictures of dead people. It just seems disrespectful, in addition to being gross. I can get those pictures have a time and a place - like the most chilling pictures of, say, the Holocaust, but maybe not in a newspaper. And what's really horrible is when news companies have spread videos of, say, the Daesh beheadings - like wtf are you doing, that's what they want, they want everyone to see it and be horrified. And how fucking awful for the families of these people?

Yeah! I'd like my warning and disclaimer please, so I have time to mute or scroll down or change channels!

Especially with videos of someone dying or CLOSE UPS OF DEAD PPL CLEARLY SHOT IN THE HEAD

Hey, so I was away for the weekend and I found out the capital is on lockdown. I'm sort of glad I didn't follow it and spend yesterday night sitting in a hottub in the country looking bat the stars.

Nor did I! I got back 2,5 hours ago, got back one Facebook and saw a friend's post that was somewhere along the lines of "but I just wanted to buy comic books, officer" and went like...hang on, wait a minute. And then I looked at the news and oh shit.

I don't think there was actually any danger...just, fear? I mean last week I went to the movies and there were ! armed soldier in the lobby. There were soldier and riot police at the station.

I went to a concert and we were all searched airport-style and once again there were soldiers and riot police. I dunno, man...it's just weird.

Rain and cold have been in the news most of the day today.

It's Santa Ana windstorm season, so we are on high-alert for brushfires as well. El Niño better hurry his ass over, it's so dry here.

The governor of Texas is threatening to cut off federal funding to any nonprofits that support refugees. It's questionable whether he even has the power to do this, but nonprofits are worried anyway.

What. The Actual. Fuck.

I mean, what? How does ANYONE think that cutting funding for an organization that HELPS PEOPLE IN NEED for HELPING PEOPLE IN NEED is the right thing to do?! I mean what the fuck is that man's rationale?!

You forget, Texas logic is the opposite of logical or moral.

I thought we've been through this.

teachers at the university here on on strike and it's been going on for three weeks and no one had any idea when it'll be over. students are pissed bc the school year will likely go into their summer break so they're worried about how much the strike could mess up deadlines on things and where they'll stay in that overtime and some students have jobs/internships lined up for that summertime already. sounds horrible for them to be stuck in limbo like that, glad nothing like that happened when i was a student.

Got 10 inches of snow in one night and my friend's boyfriend got to be on the local evening news because they were trying to do Man On the Street interviews about the weather and he was literally the only person outside in their neighborhood. :D

The art museum will finally re-open after months of remodeling.
