It would have been pretty funny to see people getting mad about a KH character had gotten into Smash before a Final Fantasy one, but at this point any future cameo seems possible. I've seen people push for Sora before.

I also see people grumbling because it's not a FF that was on Nintendo, but I have hope. Doomtrain suplexing could have been tough to squeeze in, anyway.

There will always be someone complaining regardless. (Though FF has been around for much longer, so with its storied history I can understand why more people might be interested.)

I unfortunately haven't played the Smash games but I think Sora would be a good fit for them!

Smash is very fun! I'm hoping I can finally lure my friend in now that Cloud's a character--we've also played Dissidia, but the arcade version's a while off for home consoles, iirc. Sora would be a great fit for the tone and how it plays, but at this point I'm not actually sure how many more characters they could add! There are a ton of other cameos and I imagine even DLC causing a sort of limit, since they have to think of the actual console that's holding it.

I haven't owned Nintendo consoles since the Gamecube (and that was given to me), otherwise I totally would have played them; they look really enjoyable!

Maybe next game? I know the Smash casts tend to be pretty big and there seem to be cameos every game (I remember Solid Snake being in one of them, that was amusing) so there's still time! (Might make more sense if it's after KH3 is released.)

Yeah, my first thought was the next game, but they've put so much into this one that it would probably be a while... on the other hand, KH3 will ALSO be a while, so it might line up nicely.

I also feel you on the consoles--I'm not sure if I'll go beyond this generation when it ends, but I've made my picks for Nintendo and PS4 since I got a deal on the first one. Games are still the same prices, but the consoles definitely aren't anymore.

I admit that's why I grumble. It was a FF that wasn't on Nintendo and damn if I hadn't been pushing for Cecil Harvey from FFIV because HE'S BEEN ON NINTENDO. Well that and 4 was my favorite.

If it hadn't been VII it would have been IV for sheer popularity. I think Sabin or any of the VI characters would have been awesome, but I assume VII only took it because of the recent announcement this year. IV always sells better than VI in Japan, which is also why I remember a lot of people joking that the remake S-E picked could have still been IV until it went live.

Cecil's newest Dissidia trailer looks great, though!
