I think it would depend on how you see the movie and how is estate his set up. IMO the purpose of boycotting something is not to give them money. So if you wanted to pirate it, he makes no money off that, nor does his estate. (Full disclosure: idk if Polanski has an estate or anything like that, this is all hypothetical. I don't know anything about his movies either.)

Also, how much does his art correlate to his crimes? If a work by a known child molestor glorified age gaps or under age relationships or anything that could be interpreted as "pleading his case" if you will, I would be more uncomfortable watching it, but if the artist was not making any money and I knew about its unethical rhetoric/implications going in, I still might be able to deal.
