(Anonymous) 2015-11-24 12:25 am (UTC)(link)In fanfiction for me it usually depends on the character - when a reformed bad guy and/or someone whose "adventurous" life was extremely miserable, who does this, especially if it's a cracky sort of fictional universe, I tend to love it. OTOH, when a happy good guy does it, if it doesn't fit his personality and wasn't established as something he's wanted in canon, I tend to usually not like it. Especially if the source material is realistic, but the fic's characterization isn't very realistic.
