DA. Killing a dog wouldn't be called a murder either, so you can't draw direct parallels between humans and animals in legal terms.

...maybe not legally, any more than bestiality is rape legally. But it's a) illegal for a reason, and b) not difficult at ALL to see the similarity. If someone killed one of my dogs, I would have zero qualms calling that murder in all but the strictly legal sense.
