Actually, the lack of Bilbo in Fellowship of the Ring through me at first - I mean, he was in it obviously, but Frodo was the hero. I never did find Frodo as interesting as a hero. (Overall I prefer The Hobbit to LOTR. Even if I did think Fili and Kili were women until they died and everyone spoke of what good men they were... I was young, okay?)

I’ve recently fallen hard for a pairing that was never super popular, but at least had a small following up until a few years ago. One character left the show and what little fandom there was for them together has since shriveled up and died.

It’s not going to stop me writing about them and being fannish now that I’ve found them, I just feel sad that once again I’ve missed the boat on being into something with more than a handful of people around who even care. All my ’ships these days are either super-obscure or long dead. I don’t know if it’s just my tastes being weird or if I actively avoid popular fandoms and justify it by saying I simply don’t see their appeal.

Because I miss having lots of fic to read on a regular basis. But I don’t miss the wank and nonsense that goes along with basically every big fandom. Hype turns me off and yet I also hate feeling so lonely in my fannish loves.

Yeah, I pretty much think you're entirely right, but it's also a battle I've mostly given up fighting, because it just feels like no one is ever going to change their minds and will just continue to come up with justifications, no matter how weak.

Meh, tbh Snape makes me think less of the nerd in school and more of the kid who wrote "ass fuck crackheads monday" all over his binder; actually, they did always have one really nice friend, which made you go "WTF"...

So yeah. I always thought that was what JKR was going for. (The movies totally play it that way, though.)

Text: These two are my absolute biggest OTP ever. Learning about how close the historical figures were that these two were based on makes me ship it even harder, because it's based in reality. These two were inseparable according to documents and were lifelong lovers and companions, as was pretty common for the times.

S!B: I'm really ashamed how much of my time, money and life these two have soaked up. I've been in this fandom for over 4 years and counting, and the obsession hasn't stopped in the least... Most people don't even know who the hell they are too, so having a small, obscure English fandom makes me a sad panda.

No you're right, everyone in the manga has weird bird faces. The artist just doesn't have "it" when it comes to designing faces.

Idk, I think this can honestly be more to do with contrast between skin tone and hair color and not due to race. I've never seen a very pale white guy with very light hair look good bald because it mutes his features instead of bringing them out. A light skinned white guy with very dark hair has a huge contrast between his eyebrows and facial hair and his skin without headhair to balance it out. Darker skinned guys, on the other hand, look less sharply contrasted.

Which is true of any race, like, a darker skinned asian guy will look much less bald than a lighter skinned asian guy with black eyebrows and no hair because of the less sharp contrast between his hair color and his skin color.
