The historical OTP is pretty canon yo.
(Anonymous) 2015-11-25 05:56 am (UTC)(link)Not really? I'm not OP but I've read up extensively on warlords in the Sengoku period and Masamune had a maaaaaaajor thing for Kojuurou, his favouritism and their close relationship is pretty much one of the most well known from the Sengoku era, and they're considered to be the pinnacle of a bushido relationship, they have a shitton of biographies and novels that focus just on the two of them and their relationship with one another.
It was a relationship very much built on Masamune's MASSIVELY shitty childhood that ended up giving him major trust issues (had to give the order to kill his own dad, his mother hated his guts enough to try and poison him, smallpox took his right eye as a child, etc, etc) and Kojuurou being one of the only men he felt he could trust fully in his adult years, because Kojuurou went out of his way his entire life to prove to Masamune that he was the only daimyo for him. He gave away his own land and castle given to him by Hideyoshi at the time for a job well done and instead chose to still serve Masamune, when Masamune's wife has still failed to conceive and Kojuurou's wife bore a son he came to Masamune and offered to kill his own son since Masamune was still without an heir. (Masamune was like "wtf no dude". But yeah this was seen as the pinnacle of honour on Kojuurou's part, putting his love for his daimyo above his love for his infant son.)
Masamune's own soldiers were jealous as fuck and some were quoted as saying "matters of rank do not matter to Lord Masamune when it comes to Lord Katakura", referencing the fact that the two were inseparable and Kojuurou was treated like an equal by Masamune. They would fish together, often Kojuurou would play an instrument while Masamune danced, the two were attached at the hip. When Kojuurou got older and got diabetes which made him fat, rather than go on a campaign without him, Masamune commissioned brand new, extremely expensive lightweight armour and gifted it to Kojuurou with a joke about his new rotundness needing a lighter armour lol.
When Kojuurou died Masamune was inconsolable. His own family feared he would commit suicide out of grief because he locked himself into his room and wept for three days straight, not allowing his family or servants in, not eating, sleeping or drinking, just wailing.
So....yeah I think OP left out a buncha shit to be honest lol.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-26 05:12 am (UTC)(link)Nothing wrong with speculating that it might have been (I'd doubt it, but that's speculation too), but claiming that it's a given is a long bow.
