I have no idea what the guy is like r/l. He's just not Hawkeye to me. I see Hawkee as kinda dorky/funny ad this dude just seems solemn and borderline pissed off all the time. To me it's really the worst MCU casting.

It's bad writing and directing too. Renner does play dour a lot, but the filmmakers seem to have completely discarded comic!Clint's personality.

I suspect they made movie!Hawkeye more serious and dark so that he's not stealing the spotlight from Thor (dorky, Tony (funny) and Steve (good-natured).

Agreed, and I'm not usually an actor=character person. But he's such a nothing in the role and does so little with the character. I'm sure part of that is direction, but everyone else does so much better (which is why I'd watch a Falcon movie even though Anthony Mackie is also dumb.)

Hawkeye is my favorite. I wish renner didn't come off as such a misogynistic douchecanoe.

I would LOVE a Hawkeye movie, just not so much a 'Renner as Hawkeye' movie.

I don't despise the character and I even love his relationship with Nat, but by himself he isn't very interesting to me, and he's leaps and bounds away from the comic book version which doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If movie Clint was more like comic Clint I would adore him, but I'm a bit cold to this version.

Yeah, I thought the same thing, especially in AoU. He's supposed to be this Super Special Character Who's Not Mindfucked This Time, and all I got out of him was... Meh. He had a secret family. Meh. He's good at arrows. Meh.

Just... meh.

I've got nothing against Renner, don't know the guy, but I don't care for MCU Hawkeye much either outside of his relationship with Natasha. I certainly wouldn't clamour for him to get a solo film, well not unless we got Kate with it, then I'd take it.

If they had Clint and Kate doing their thing I would be ALL over that Sh*t!

Considering the current comic run, it could be both of them. But that would only work with comic!Clint's character traits.

I have no opinions about Hawkeye, but Jeremy Renner sounds like a douche. Between his juvenile snickering about Black Widow being a slut and then his whiny "dude what can I do about it" re: women not being paid as much as men in Hollywood and now he's letting the world know his favorite curse word is "cunt", I don't really see much of redeeming value in the guy. He's not some evil monster, just another boring, clueless dudebro.

I think people give Jeremy Renner too much crap for things he says... but I hated him before he opened his mouth. Something about him irks me and I don't think he's a good actor. Also, he clearly doesn't like Scarlett Johanson for some reason and I'd love to know why. (I like her in interviews but I the only movie I enjoyed her in was Her. That explains itself.)

Renner leaves me so conflicted cause I like him as an actor, I think he's stupid gorgeous, but he needs to keep his mouth shut most of the time. Middle aged white man has decidedly middle-aged white man blinders and thinks that shit is normal.

His poor publicist.
