wtf is a kin exactly? Every time I see it I think understand, but then I keep reading and nothing makes sense.

SA:

Okay, I'm not 100% sure myself but as I understand it, these people basically think they ARE the character(s) -somehow you can be more than one- just in another fictional dimension.

And lo and behold, look what just showed up on my dash, maybe it will shed some more light on it. Or confuses you even more:

fictionkin questions ✨

1.what are your kintypes?
2.who + what do you miss from your canon(s) the most?
3.do your fictkintypes give you any kithtypes + sympaths + other kintypes?
4.do you have any memories or just moments from your canon(s) that youre especially fond of?
5.whats a really hard part of your canon(s) to go through for you every time you replay or rewatch or reread it?
6.whats your opinion of the fandom and how they characterize you?
7.how do you feel about the most common otp for you if there is one?
do you read fanfics of your kintype(s)?
8.is there a song or album that reminds you of your canon?
9.is there a fanwork (fanfic + drawing + amv + etc) of your kintype or canon that you really like?
10.do you try to emulate the appearance or personality of your kintype(s)?
11.how do you think youve changed from your canon(s) if at all?
12.are you friends with anyone from your canon(s)?

Don't ask my what kithtypes or sympaths are. I think I read the explanation for at least the second one some time ago but my brain refuses to remember.

nayrt

I had the same question as anon above - 'wtf is a kin?' And reading your answer, I still think 'wtf is a kin?'

I guess I'm too old now to figure out what kids these days are doing, but it sounds like yet another iteration of soulbounding, or Snapewives.

Snapewives was the first thing that came to my mind, too. That and people who thought they were dating famous actors on the astral plane.

(Anonymous) 2015-11-26 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
That makes me think of "Snapes on a Plane". Google brings me so many awesome pictures.

it is soulbonding with a fresh new label

(Anonymous) 2015-11-26 04:16 am (UTC)(link)

A person who believe that they are not human. Fictionkin identify as fictional characters. Factkin identify as living (Or otherwise real) people. (I've heard there's people who "Identify" as Markiplier, creepily enough)

I regularly want to believe I'm not human, especially when I watch the news.
