I actually asked this to black girl when I was younger (which was probably a faux pas, but in m defense I'm socially awkward with everyone).

She said it's because black hair is harder to care for, many guys don't want just a 'fro, so the just shave it off for ease.

I have no idea if it's actually true, but if it is it's sort of a pity, I think. But then yeah I really don't find baldness attractive :(
