No as in you don't want happy, optimistic things?

My only regret right now is being limited by mobile and work.

No, as in I don't want my favourite genre to "go away" because OP prefers my other favourite space going sci fi genre.

they're two different genres and neither of them are entirely "happy-optimistic" or "grim dark" anymore than the superhero genre is entirely "grimdark".

We can have both. It just so happens dystopia is the prevalent one right now.

Not to mention OPs pseudophilosophybullshit of "isn't it better to~"

Neither is better. They're genres. People have personal preferences of viewing material depending on their day and mood. Sometimes people want exploratory scifi and other times I want humanity rebuilding from a dystopia. OP setting the two genres up, blanketly generalising both of them to reduce them to disingenuous bullshit that ignores that both can be happy or dark is stupid.

So. No.

The proper solution to OP's complaint is not "less dystopia, more utopia", it's "more dystopia AND more utopia so there's something for everyone!"

If someone could post the why not both girl, but with a photoshopped angry face, I'd be most greatful.

That's all very fair, and I agree one shouldn't go away to make room for the other.

However, I don't think there's anything wrong with being annoyed by a trend in media. While dark material isn't ALL dark, it's still darker than lighter material, and darker fare has definitely been "in" for a little while now. It makes sense for someone to have a little genre fatigue.

Fatigue is fine, but somehow I doubt it's fatigue considering the bullshit reasons OP decided to take this in.
