omg I know exactly what you mean. There's this girl in one of my classes who makes sure to laugh SO LOUDLY when she's on her phone, while surreptitiously glancing over at other people in the class to see if we're interested in whatever she's looking at. UGH.

yes thank you that's what i mean! it's so obvious they're putting on a show to try to get everyone else's attention, not reacting on their own without caring whether people hear. there's always that surreptitious look to check how many people are watching and seeing how much fun they're having and it's never a look of guilt at being too loud, it's a gauge of who's paying attention
