I hate the new Tumblr-grammar practice of ending your sentences/posts with a comma. I don't get where it comes from or how it became code for "I'm pretending my opinion is a hard fact and I'm going to cry oppression if you tell me it's not."

Wait, what? Where on tumblr is this happening?

Various fandom places. Tends to happen with gender/sexuality/neurodivergence headcanons the most, I'd say. For example, someone writes a post reminding everyone that, say, Steve Rogers being bisexual is a popular headcanon and it's fine if you headcanon him that way, but it's not canon. Someone will reblog the post and say "But anyways, Steve Rogers is bisexual,"

and that's all they write. The format varies, but that's the idea.

Weird. That kinda convention seems like it would say "hey let's have more discussion," because they're leaving the sentence unfinished, not "discussion over."

Nah, when the replies are longer, they're always angry and about how oppressive it is to tell everyone that something that's canon isn't canon and how OP hates bisexuals (or whatever group the headcanon's about).

I mean I see that a lot, but...I don't think that's really what it means? It's just the new way of being goofy and casual, it usually implies a joke. At least that's how I read it. I mean it may or may not annoy you but it's not part of some ~*SJW conspiracy or w/e.

No, everything is an SJW conspiracy, didn't u kno

See I've seen the comma thing, and I've seen the "I'm pretending my opinion is blah blah blah" thing, but I don't think they're connected.
