There's this guy I work with, and I hate to rant about him because he's a sweet kid, but he's an absolute nimrod and he's terrible at his job. Worse, because I helped him out when he was first starting, he's latched onto me like a limpet, and he'll bother me to fix/answer something for him EVEN IF I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF HELPING A CUSTOMER. We have radios for a reasonnnnnn ask someone that isn't busyyyyyyy

But I think he's about to get fired, too. He has a second job he just got, which is fine, but he's seriously neglecting this one in favor of it, and he's not really shy about it. I don't think he understands why that's frustrating our head manager so much. (Double the shame, since she's one of the nicest women alive, I swear.) I feel kind of bad for him, but at the same time, hhhhhh. It's a bad fit, and I'm frustrated too.

How long have you worked with this person, and how much daily/weekly contact do you have with him? Because based on your description of his behavior--pestering you to solve his problems for him instead of learning to do it himself, without regard for your time--I suspect that the longer you're exposed, the less likely you'll be to find him "a sweet kid."

It's classic passive-aggression, really--he probably feels put-upon at having to work at this job (or maybe at having to work at all) so he does a shit job and tries to get his colleagues to do his work for him.

He'll probably be exploiting that "sweet kid" persona when he's fifty.

If this person is a teenager, which I sort of assumed from the "sweet kid" line but maybe not? then it might not be a deliberate persona. He may just actually be really spacy and clueless.

You could be right; it's scary how everyone 10 years younger than you is still a kid when you hit 35 or so.

haha, I'm 25.

Though I can honestly say I have friends in their 30s, so maybe it depends on who you are.
