They're not really a notp of mine, but I feel like I don't really see Toriel the same way that a lot of people online do, so I have a hard time with the cute shipping things because I don't see her in the same way, you know?

Half the times I ship the juggernaut... and the other half the juggernaut is a huge NO. Not in the fandom but I know how you feel.

Yeah, it's not a NOTP but it's certainly not my favorite either.

Actual NOTP is the secondary fandom darling, Papyrus/Mettaton . . . Mettaton would need someone more subdued than he is, to bring him back down to earth on occasion (as let's face it, sometimes he really REALLY needs that).

DA, but I guess it's because I feel bad for Asgore? He did some shitty stuff but his child and adopted child died, that's gonna make you go a little nuts. I don't think it would be an instant forgiveness sort of thing from Toriel's side but more of a "maybe one day" ship.

I agree with you, though. I think of them as platonic friends and I kind of ship Asgoriel tbh. Plus Sans just seems like he's not really interested in relationships anyway.

I haven't even played the game, so everything I know about it is from friends who are super into it, so I don't even know why seeing this ship bugs me, OP, but you're definitely not alone. It seems like it's everywhere, and it's not like I expected to 'get' any ships since I don't have the game, but I didn't expect to really dislike any, either...

I don't know the game, but a 25 year age gap wouldn't creep me out at all unless the younger character was underage. There's nothing inherently gross about couples with big age differences; power differences (student/teacher, boss/employee, etc) bother me more, but even those aren't totally irredeemable, especially in fiction.

I don't know about Homestuck, but the Undertale fandom is not (and hopefully never will be) even a tenth as bad as the MLP fandom.

I find this secret super funny because the tag for this ship is chokefull of people complaining about how much of a notp this ship is fore them and constantly asking to tag it (which is not a unreasonable request at all, of course.)

I wonder WHY is this a secret. You are hardly alone, op.

(I also find funny the "why can't they just be friend" that everyone that doesn't like this ship asks. It's not like they CAN'T be friends, they can totally be, but is really so surprising that people ships two characters that have a good chemistry, have fun together and clearly care for each other? Like, c'mon. Tell me something I don't know.)

Personally, I don't see them being romantic. I think people ship it because pun couple and the pre-established connection between them (even if they didn't know who was who on each side of the door)

What surprises me is that nobody's gone and shipped Papyrus with Undyne; fandom in general's never been above tweaking character sexuality for the sake of a ship, but I guess the love for Undyne/Alphys is much stronger.
