I don't like her show because she's all "Pioneer life!" And then I all "watch what I can do with crushed Oreos!" Putting things in mason jars does not make them pioneer evocative.

Making them evocative of pioneers is exactly what it does. What it does not do is make them actually like pioneer life, or good or virtuous or decent in any way.

The American pioneers didn't drink out of mason jars because they hadn't been invented for much of the early pioneer movement across the country and frankly, because they would've been too fragile and valuable to use that way. They drank out of tin cups or perhaps crockery.
