they have shitty survival skills, they're super fragile, they overspecialized at some point of their evolution and their diet is impossible to maintain, and they're not even that useful for their own ecosystem... really the only reason so much money is wasted on conservation efforts (money that could go to animals that are actually vital for the survival of their environment) is that they're chubby and cute.

All the hype about pandas frustrates because this is not a species that we need to save. This is a species that nature is trying to kill because it's become useless.

Like pandas clearly want to just die. They won't mate. Hello guys, that's a sign.

Red pandas are awesome, though.
