You mean expressed his prejudices more subtly like Lucius did? That worked out real well for him. If there is one thing the last book makes clear it is that Voldemort really wanted straight up shit bags. Look at the other senior people in the Death Eater organization, for goodness sake. Unrepentant sadistic bastards each and every single one. Any sort of pretension to culture or good manners was seen as, at best, a weakness and at worst was actively punished. Snape's apparent unrepentant assholery was held up by Voldemort as a virtue. It is what he sought in his followers.

It was actually a smart move by Dumbledore to allow Snape to act like that; he set a standard for bad behavior that virtually nobody else could match, as they had neither an indulgent boss nor the ability to step outside social norms and maintain their society position, but that Tom would love. Only the convicted felons could match or exceed Snape in savagery and reputation, and they didn't have Snape's sanity. By encouraging and approving Snape's assholery, Dumbledore drove an effective wedge in Death Eater ranks, and positioned Snape exactly where he needed to be to be Tom's right hand man as both evil enough and sane enough to be seen as the perfect Death Eater.

That reasoning for Dumbledore is why I like fics where Harry decides to leave Hogwarts for another school. Preferably taking Hermione with him, and Neville, if the fic goes that far.

Voldemort wasn't mad at Lucius for not being shitbag-pyschopath grade villain the way Snape came off at school, he was mad at Lucius for losing his Horcrux and then further failing him at the Department of Mysteries. There is no evidence anywhere that Lucius didn't display his prejudices in a satisfactory enough manner for Voldemort, nor is there evidence anywhere to suggest that Voldemort would've given one flying shit about Snape's reputation as a sadist at school, or had an interest in how Snape treated Harry's friends or other Gryffindors. He might have cared about Snape favouring Slytherin obviously, but Snape could've done that without being a bully to his students. In fact, Snape all but backhand compliments Hermione to Bellatrix in HBP with that "Potter gets by on luck and more clever friends" (paraphrased) line of his and no one even blinks.
