I'm a huge Star Trek fan, but while I'm sure the crash happened, is there confirmation from anyone besides Roddenberry that things happened like this? Like, who was interviewed in that biography about this? Was it someone else that was in the crash? Because I'm not trying to stir anything up, but he was a notorious bullshit artist for basically all his adult life. Even his closest friends and contemporaries knew not to believe half the stories he told if they made him look good. And this has the same tone as a lot of his whoppers.

There is confirmation from the surviving stewardess about him helping evacuate the burning plane and going for help. I don't know about the rest.
