I thought it was mocking the aesthetics of high fashion, not transgender people. A lot of high fashion models have a unique, striking appearance that to many look alien, regardless of gender.

I never once made the connection to transgender people. Given the tone of the first movie, it was obvious to me it was mocking the high fashion world and their excesses.

I thought the same.

And Derek and Hansel are supposed to be ignorant, so I thought the hot dog bun/hot dog was an indicator of that? For example when they talked about how terrible being fat was in the first movie and everything, it was clear that we were not supposed to agree with them.

I guess we'll see how it plays out in the actual film but yeah.
