(Anonymous) 2015-12-05 01:26 am (UTC)(link)The only part of that I will agree with is when writers do it poorly, to the point at which the supposedly diverse and progressive work is actually more offensive. Even as a woman I think that's true; I'd rather the main cast be all-male than deal with another token chick, or a girly girl who might as well just be a blob of sparkly pink glitter. It's really quite irritating. At the same time, it might not well for all the main characters to be straight Christian white dudes either...

(Anonymous) 2015-12-05 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)Yup. A lot of people actually believe that. They feel that non-minority writers should make room for minority writers so that writing is more diverse but without having people write experiences they aren't part of.
