Hee hee, opera is full of 'problematic' stuff, a whole variety of bad things happening to people, who sing beautifully about their woes, and then die. Okay, they don't always die, but usually. :)

Maybe what OP means by "taste and decorum" is "complete absence of tension or conflict". In which case, perhaps the music of Sesame Street would be more to their liking.
