Do you honestly think that every writer feels the same way you do? That seems a little... well, egocentric. I know a lot of fanfic authors, and every single one of them enjoys getting a review. Even the short ones, because that means that SOMEONE is reading. Otherwise they post a story, hear nothing back and wonder if they screwed up.

The authors who might feel annoyed or embarrassed by a review are in a very, very small minority. Basing your behavior off them doesn't make any sense at all, because if you read and don't review, the odds are you're annoying far more writers than you are now.
