Oh man. It only applied to the 2004 movie. A bunch of fans (I think they called themselves "sleuthers") decided that there were "clues" hidden throughout the movie (such clues were subtitles, lens flares, and other random things) that pointed to a secret story behind the story where the Phantom was the King of Music possessed by an evil spirit and Christine was his Queen. It ended with the Phantom and Christine being together of course, unlike the actual story of the movie.

okay probably not the hidden plot you're going for but i thoroughly enjoy the conspiracy that says the Phantom is actually Frankenstein's monster.

TJLC used to piss me off massively, but now I actually read the tag for amusement. I didn't even notice the moment when it stopped irritating me. Makes exactly zero sense, though, that's true.

As far as the poto conspiracy stuff goes, I dunno that there was anything to get unless you were "habitually wears underpants as hats" crazy.
