AVALANCHE!!! I got so excited to see Biggs, Wedge and Jessie! :D :D

I thought it looks great, and with the exception of the combat, fairly faithful to the original. I'm even more excited now than I was before, and I've been positive to this the entire time.

Yeah, I'm 100% remaking it, but the Biggs, Wedge and Jessie bits definitely were a clever pull at nostalgia, without any of the Compilation crap in there. And even the dialogue and such seemed pretty faithful, so that was exciting.

I think I already played FFVII.

I don't know, no matter how good it looks nothing will every be able to match the nostalgia and the janky translation and the blocky sprites...

It's good to see Wesley Snipes getting work again. He sounds like shit though.

Everything else is what I was expecting. Still psyched.

Just as an FYI. As the title says the original FFVII is available on the PlayStation Store for PS4. Reddit says there is a discount, but I don't see it on my (European) account. Possibly just for US, if at all.

I just bought it and you also get a Midgar theme that plays Aerith's theme and has the menu sound effects from the original game! I just got hit with some nostalgia.

sa yet again, hijacking this thread (sorry about that OP!)

I've just played through the first bombing mission and this version has added a couple of features.

One of them is being able to speed everything up by pressing L3, so everything but FMVs and the music runs at 3x speed, which can be useful if you've played the game before and/or if you want to grind.

A second feature is getting HP, MP and the limit break bar filled up instantly by pushing R3 I think it was (and keep getting refilled until you press R3 again), which again makes it easier to grind and getting new limit breaks (I got Cross slash before riding the elevator down with Barret and Jessie).

You can also get no encounters by pressing R3 and L3 I think it was.

This combined got me in and out of the reactor so quick. idk if I will use them a lot, especially the second one, but figured I could tell you guys in case anyone considered buying the game. Might be some other little things too.

Looks beautiful. If I ever have the money to drop on a PS4, I'll consider it. But like the other FF remakes, it isn't a priority right now.

And still no news on what they're doing with the huge tits.

My roommate got mad they're going more action RPG like Kingdom Hearts instead of turn-based though. I don't mind the changeup in battle system.

It looks like it's either love it or hate it with people re: new battle system. I might be mad if I loved FFVII. I played it in my teens years after it'd come out so I never really got the hype. It's a good game but not amazing. *shrugs*

I love the original but its battle system was stupid as hell.

See, I fully admit I'm an original game elitist, but to me, the battle system isn't really "the essence" of the original game. I don't mind if they change it, as long as, say, they incorporate the materia and such, and don't change the battle functions of the characters (in FF7, for example, no job classes, everyone can basically do everything, etc). It even makes sense to modernize it a bit - they probably could've made the original system work, but I don't mind a little change.

I mostly just don't want them to change anything about the story, and they've already said they might.

I liked it, I hope if I get my hands on a PS4 that I will be able to play it. I haven't actually played any FFs past FFX(I've been playing them in chronological order, got distracted by other things, and haven't even started replaying 4 yet.) yet, so I don't have experience with the newer battle systems.

I just hope it stays true to the original, and I want costume options that let me play through the game with Cloud in the dress.

It seems like the battle system might actually just be a flashier turn based one.

I thought it looked more like XIII's battle system at first, but now it seems reasonable that it's actually turn based.

I also noticed that, and tbh I hope it really is. Please be turn based, pleaseeeee

I was a little iffy after the first trailer, but now all I can say is TAKE MY MONEY

It looks like they're doing things RIGHT. Obviously this is just the early Midgar missions with AVALANCHE being showcased, but the sequences where they're navigating environmental obstacles and roaming around Midgar, the grittiness of the environments, the action of the new battle system, it all looks fucking GREAT.

I was nervous about whatever new combat system they came up with but it looks like it might be Crisis Core's, which if it is will be awesome.

I LOVED IT!!! I love that they gave kept the same voice actors (And Badger from Breaking Bad as Wedge A++ choice!), idk why Barret had sunglasses on but whatever. I love that Cloud has kept his skinny arms. I love the use of the Distant World's version of the music. I love how pretty it looks. I love how it seems faithful so far.

Now I just hope it'll be done for the 20th anniversary so I don't have to wait any longer to give them my money.
