also sadness can help us feel empathy for other people, caring about their wellbeing. that could have been an interesting take. like if you can't feel sad you are sorta isolating yourself.

But wasn't that the take the movie took? Like, I feel like the movie showed that pretty explicitly. Sadness was able to understand Bing Bong's sorrow over to losing his wagon while Joy had no idea what to do and Sadness was able to help him move on.

Sadness can also make people monstrously self-centered, expecting a free pass for all their sucky actions because "I'm depressed."
