All she basically said was that Snape was a shitty person, but his last action was brave.

Yes? That and she said Harry named his kid after Snape partly because he had no remaining family.

Er, the forgiveness part was about Harry feeling guilty over the deaths at the Hogwarts battle and hoping that by forgiving Snape he could forgive himself.

Right sure, but I mean to say that the reason he chose Snape over other (more deserving) characters, according to JKR, is because he had no remaining family.

Harry forgives Snape. I know that. Good for him, but it doesn't make him any less awful.
