I get this. I don't think I admire the actual meanness of mean female characters, myself, but I do admire their ability to be mean/ruthless. Ultimately, I would admire them more if they chose to be kind instead. But there is real value in having the capacity for unkind traits like selfishness and insensitivity and bluntness and calculation, and perhaps even, occasionally, cruelty.
