I think it's weird to choose a cat based on what markings it has but a lot of people do. I guess it's ok as long as you go with a shelter cat, it's one less cat in a shelter and one more in a (hopefully) loving forever home.

This. (Though, as others have said, I think you should consider personality as well. You don't want to adopt a 'perfect' cat only to find you don't mesh with it.)

This was my thinking. As long as you take good care of the cat, it's a good thing, even though I think it's a really weird reason to choose a cat.

(Honestly, I can see the appeal of naming a pet after a character who matches it visually and/or personality-wise, but I'd probably do that after adopting it)

If I get a shelter cat, it will be black. Black cats are the least adopted type of cat, and are often the ones killed because no one will adopt them.
