(Anonymous) 2015-12-06 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)On the subject of choosing pets by their color, I personally don't have a problem with it especially when what you're looking for is an animal with a darker color. Poor babies have much lower chances of being adopted because people are superstitious. And there are personal preferences that are valid. I have an indoor-outdoor situation and have never gotten a kitten (who presumably could be trained to take a bath), so it would be better for me not to have a mostly white cat like my sister's indoor one.
There are some colors that actually do match personality. I don't think I'd willfully ever get a marmalade striped cat after my sister's boyfriend's cat attacked me (we were both being assholes). I've heard that coloring tends to come with a high-strung personality. In contrast, I've met a lot of black cats that are absolute sweethearts and kind of silly in an uncat-like manner. I have never had an aloof black cat.

(Anonymous) 2015-12-07 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)I will vouch for at least my own all-black cat being an absolute sweetheart, though. Even the vet has remarked on it.
