ao3 is the one I use the most, but the tagging could use some regulations.

FF.net's searching has gotten better, but it still has some of the same old problems.

Tumblr is great for gifsets and short comments but it's archiving is shit.

Livejournal/Dreamwidth are the layout we base a lot of are fic format wants on, but the community hubs that let us find people in the past are pretty dead.

Reddit has crossposting potential but little as a primary site. Great for meta and other long discussions though.

Wordpress. I don't much about it. Same problems are lj/dw and maybe a few others (?)

Are there any I am forgetting?

Do people actually post fic on Reddit and Wordpress? Or LJ or DW anymore for that matter.

People occasionally still post their fic on their dw/lj though always to either ao3 and/or ff.net too.

Are they still a thing? I thought they were deader than geocities.

AO3 has the best formatting, imo, although Tumblr is much better for sheer quantity of response to fic (provided you're in a megafandom.) Tried FF.net, but I think the people who use it skew younger, and they wouldn't let me post my porn anyway.

I don't know why I'd bother with any of the others listed here, honestly.

Another factor in FF.net's favor there, no pointless porn.

Actually, lots of people post porn there even though it's against the rules. The difference is that it's easier to filter out the porn when searching, since FF.net lets you filter your results to fic rated K-T.

AO3 only has the option to search under one rating or ALL ratings.

Have there been any porn purges on ff.net recently?

That's really not a point in their favor.

Not sure if it's the best, but this is always the third place I go to look for fic, after FF.net and AO3.

Wow. It's been ages since I've been to squidge. I'll have to look around later.

Actually, to get an idea of what a REALLY bad fanfic site is, perhaps check out AdultFanfiction.net?

As an AUTHOR it's painfully clunky to navigate.
Little to no search ability

(There is also MediaMiner, but I don't know how many people stil use that.)

Users don't fare any better, tbh.

When I first visited the site, I almost couldn't believe I was in the right place.

Talk about a dumping ground.

IMO wattpad is worse than AF.

I like my fanfic hand written and delivered to me on the backs of chickens tbh.
