Re: Short thriller and inspirational novels

One of the most readable action-packed fun books that I've read was Ice Station by Matthew Reilly. I haven't watched Taken, but this book is fast, and fun. From what I recall, it's not a particularly difficult book, either.

As for inspirational, I don't know if this would qualify because it's about Jews, but Chaim Walder has a series called "Kids Speak", which is basically true stories by children about events in their lives that were sent to him as letters, and which he did some editing on for readability. Many of them have an educational/inspirational focus, and they're very sweet.
There's also a series for adults by him called People Speak, which is same idea but by adults.
