I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting a cat that aesthetically pleases you, cats are pretty and I sure understand the feeling of "I'd love to have one with these kinds of colors."

I'd just ask you to please consider your choice based on the cat's personality. Pets can have very differing personalities as much as humans do, and you'd probably find yourself better off with a pet that has a personality you click with since, you know, you'd technically be "stuck" with them until they die.
(Unless you'd bring them back to the shelter, but please don't. That's a very terrible thing to do.)
