Technically, Disney can't promote a property that it doesn't own, so I don't quite understand the issue...

Is it that Marvel is allowing the Disney properties to be more visible? This is probably because Disney has the money to promote what it owns. That would be my guess anyway.

Marvel does have a choice in building up the comic storylines of characters whose movie rights are owned by Sony or Fox, but even if they choose to cut/diminish those characters in ongoing comics, it's not like those other movie studios can't draw on previous years' worth of stories or make up their own shit.
