Man, I just can't with this. I mean, on one hand, as long as you're adopting a cat and saving one, then it doesn't matter much if you get this one or that one. But it sounds like you want a fandom toy more than an actual cat and it makes me feel like you're not taking a cat seriously or adopting for the right reasons. I hope when you do get a cat, you commit FOREVER to this cat, have plenty of money to give it a good life and cover emergency vet bills, and treat it well.

It also makes me incredibly sad for all the cats that get passed over because they're unpopular colors. OP, adopt a black kitty, or an older cat, that would mean SO much more.

Adopting to 'save' a cat is unhealthy. It's better to get a cat because you want a cat.

And black cats actually are the most likely to get adopted. It's just that black is a dominant coat color so during a shelter study black cats made up 33 percent of the feline intake, with gray cats coming in a distant second, at 22 percent.

Black cats aren't the most likely, they are indeed the least likely. This is true of black dogs as well.

Adopting, vs buying in the pet store - it's better to adopt and "save" a cat than buy one from a pet store.

Statistics? Because as I said, studies have been done that found black cats have the highest adoption rates just because there's twice as many of them as any other color.
