This was honestly the first thing that dented my enthusiasm for this :/ BUT they released a statement later today that makes me a bit less worried about it than I was at first:

"It means instead of concluding in one entry, multiple entries are being considered in development. Each entry will have its own unique story. As a gaming experience, each entry will have the volume of content equal to a full-sized game."

That's way better than say a 5 hour episode followed by 3+ months of waiting. Sounds like maybe they are making the entire Compilation. I don't want to speculate too much though at this point. It seems they may say more at Jump Festa.

This is making me excited, honestly.

I never played the original and I have no desire to. I just can't get passed the crap graphics. I lnow they were great for the time. I have some nostalgia for certain games on the N64. But when your first foray into FF games was FFX and then the "spin off" with Kingdom Hearts, well...those old PS1 graphics are terrible.

And if they do either a KH style game play or a FFXIII style game play (or some mix of both, though i have no idea how that would work), I'll be happy. I like both play styles a lot.

And if the episode thing is gonna basically be full games to make a whole, then I am down and I am saving for a PS4.

If you really want to try the original FFVII but the graphics bother you, I've seen some really advanced skins/mods that put fancier character models in, and some of them look pretty decent. The backgrounds are not too awful, I think, if you don't have the really blocky people there.

So far the gameplay actually seems to be hinting at some flavor of turn-based, which makes me a very happy camper.

And yet, the only scenes shown in the trailer are for Midgard. I'm not holding my breath.

What they have shown so far is literally the intro of the game. Had they shown anything outside of the 30-45 first minutes of the game I would have been with you, but as it is it is some of the most iconic/most recognizable/non-spoilery parts of the game and makes a good job of showing what they have done so far.

I would wait until we get some more info, which we might get next weekend at Jump Festa, before getting too pessimistic about it.
