If you’re annoyed by excessive tags/”tumblr style tagging”, if you hover over the “hi, [name]” in the top right, and then click “My Preferences”, under “Display” you can choose to “Hide additional tags (you can still choose to show them).” as well as “Hide warnings (you can still choose to show them).“. I don’t have the warning one selected, but I can tell you, selecting the other one has made my AO3 experience a lot more pleasant.

Wait, are you telling me that people are having a fucking aneurysm over a completely inconsequential thing when they have an easy way to avoid it?

People are fucking idiots.

TBH, I can't blame them; I only found out about it in the last three months or so, and only because someone told me about it. It wasn't that well advertised, and I didn't even realize it was a settings option that I could look for.

It's possible to go even further. Under "My Preferences" you can go to "Your site skin". Scroll down the drop-down menu and you get to several options which will hide all or most of the tags.

I wish the default would be that additional tags are hidden - it must be so irritating to people coming onto the site for the first, or maybe even the 1001st time.
