Guess: Comic creator says he'll never do porn, but he dances around sexual situations instead, and OP wishes he'd either go ahead and do the porn or stop teasing.

Shit or get off the pot is a stupid phrase, though.

There's a difference to me between creating a sexual situation and fading to black and making "LOL nudity/sex jokes" when you've made you stance on sex between your characters clear.

And it's not really a dumb phrase imo when it sums up a situation perfectly.

But is his stance "my characters won't have sex with each other" or "I'm not going to draw porn of my characters?"

Driveby to say I agree about "shit or get off the pot" being a stupid phrase. I feel like "either shoot the ball or pass it already" is better.

He likes sexy stuff, but doesn't want to do outright porn. Not uncommon, or unreasonable.

He doesn't shame anyone who does porn, even with his characters.

Really don't see why there needs to be any change to that status quo.

I feel like all the reasons not to do porn are also reasons not to do these sorts of sex jokes. It reminds me of when I tried reading Jack Chalker, although at least Shive keeps his fetishes relatively plot-constrained rather than derailing the plot for whole chapters to cater to them.

But the stated reason is 'I am comfortable with drawing Sexy, but not Porn'. Not 'porn is nasty' or 'sex is bad' or...anything that could be turned into an argument against Sexy. It's entirely what he wants to do.

I know an artist whose comic is basically entirely tease--actually trading on sex appeal, lots of sex jokes, girls in next to nothing--but always fades out before any sex happens. It's a motif.

Does he draw porn otherwise? Not all artists are into drawing straight up porn, even if they have no issue with it. It's not for everyone.

He does not. He's recently started a pin-up blog, but even that comes up short on actual porn.

tbh I find the style so generally unsexy I can't imagine actually wanting porn of it.

Me, too.

And I've always identified with it since I have a certain family member who, if left to their own devices, sits on said pot for 45 minutes - 1 hour. We've timed it.

So yeah, that phrase always comes to mind since it has been quite relevant to my life. :)
