I agree that the comic Civil War is salvageable, but based on the trailer and what we already know of the characters involved, it looks like the movie storyline in the movie is going to be something completely different with the only shared elements being the title and the Iron Man vs. Cap conflict being a huge part of what drives the plot.

A pretty clever tactic, if you ask me; using a title associated with a (in)famous comic storyline to draw the attention of comic fans without actually adapting the comic in question. Kind of like what the Nolan Batman films did with The Dark Knight Rises - title has the same acronym as a hugely influential Frank Miller comic, but a totally different story.

Hopefully Civil War will be better than TDKR, though.

I think a big part of what they're doing is finally properly folding The Winter Soldier storyline into the Steve/Tony slapfight, which they utterly failed to do in the comics for no good reason.
